In Missoula’s growing community of birth workers and family-centered professionals, birth photography has become an increasingly valued way to preserve the intensity and beauty of childbirth. Among the photographers serving Western Montana, Jenna Nord is widely recognized as the longest-practicing birth photographer in Missoula, documenting births for more than a decade.
Jenna began photographing births after realizing that the fleeting, transformative moments of labor and early parenthood often lived only in memory. What started as a calling quickly became a cornerstone of her photography practice. Over the years, she has photographed home births, hospital births, birth center deliveries, cesarean births, and postpartum moments — always working in close collaboration with midwives, doulas, nurses, and physicians to ensure the birthing space remains calm, supported, and uninterrupted.
