What is Birth Photography?

Birth photography is documenting the day your child enters the world. No matter how this baby comes to you, it’ll be a day that you’ll want to have captured. Having photographs of the moment you meet the tiniest love of your life is a moment like no other. You won’t regret having these photos for years to come and your child will be grateful for them as well.

How Does It Work?

I meet or talk on the phone with all clients to discuss their birth plan and vision for photos. We discuss the proper time to call me, and how to keep me updated in the days and weeks before labor starts. Once labor starts, you update me and we keep in contact until you tell me it’s time to come to you. I stay 1-2 hours after birth. This allows enough time for motherhood, nursing and sibling/family meeting the new baby photos.

I want it to be very dark during birth, how will you take pictures in the dark?

I’ve had several mamas who want the room dark while delivering, professional photographers have gear that works in low light situations. We can also talk about using a flash, or not, during a dark labor and birth.

How Many Photo's Will I Recieve?

There are no certain number of images that I give, but you can expect around 150-200. The images are going to capture your story, the details and your first moments with your child. I also offer Slideshows set to music, albums, and other keepsakes.

Will My Photo's Be In Color or Black & White?

Your photos will be delivered in a mix of color and black & white.

What if you miss a birth, get sick or have an emergency?

Any reputable birth photographer works with a backup. If I was sick or had an emergency, I’d call my backup to attend the birth.

Who is your ‘Backup’ Photographer?

I work with an amazing professional specialized Birth Story photographer in the state. It’s important to me that my backup photographers are not only amazing people, and well trained, but someone that I would want to have at my OWN birth.

What if the baby comes fast?

Good communication is key! Contacting me at the first signs of labor helps me to determine when I should come to your birth space.

If the baby happens to come very fast, I would still come to your place of birth and take photos. The fast birth is part of your story and I am there to document your story as it unfolds, even if it is fast! We also set up a Fresh48 or Motherhood session to replace what might have been missed in the event of a precipitous birth.

Do you offer video?

Yes! I am certified with Birth Becomes You Video Course. Video is my new favorite for documenting birth stories. Contact me about upgrading your birth package to include a beautiful video about your child’s birth day.

We are so lucky to have you. Our community is so lucky to have someone like you-a dedicated birth worker, a decorated mama, a passionate advocate for women. You. You are such an essential piece to the journey of motherhood for the mother themselves but also the babies that you get to watch come to life. You are allowing them to SEE themselves and their mamas and papas in a wildly vulnerable and life changing moment. Showing them the strength of their parents, the tenderness of birth, the perfectly vivid emotions. You are such a part of my life and I’m so thankful.

Jenna is the very best at what she does. When I found out I was pregnant for the third time she was the first person I called to make sure she could be there to capture my birth story of our last baby. Jenna has such a presence in the birth space. Quiet, kind, empowering and holds so much positive energy. Her work is pure art encapsulating such a life changing moment in still time forever. I am beyond thankful for the images she has captured for my family. I can’t wait to give these images of such a special moment to my kids one day. I also did a floral bath newborn session with her shortly after birth and she has such a way of making you feel so beautiful and empowered as a new mom in her postpartum period. I am always so comfortable around Jenna and recommend her for many different photography sessions you may be in need of. She is one of kind professionally and as a person. She has so much talent to offer.

We reached out to Jenna to do newborn photos for our daughter. We first spoke about what we were wanting to accomplish with the photos and what we were envisioning. When we went in to do the shoot she made us feel very comfortable and at ease. She was very patient when my baby got fussy and put on soothing music. The cherry on top was the in person presentation of the photos. I was expecting excellent photos but was blown away with what I saw. Her passion for her craft is evident in the way she talks about the photos and how excited she gets showing them. I can’t wait to cover my walls in these photos and I will forever adore them. I can not suggest using Jenna to capture these special and intimate more!

Working with Jenna has been amazing! As someone who has never done a photo shoot of any kind, much less one where you slowly transition from dresses to the complete nude, I did not know what to expect. But Jenna did a phenomenal job of making me feel comfortable, and captured my “maternity” in an incredibly beautiful, powerful and artistic way. I actually showed my maternity photos at my baby shower, something I never would have seen myself doing, but I was inspired to show my girlfriends my raw feminine and they loved it! Would recommend to anyone who wants to capture this amazing time in their life, Jenna will show you a side of yourself you did not know existed.

I couldn’t be any happier with Jenna’s amazing work. I’m also very thankful she drove 3hrs as fast and as safe as possible to make it on time for my baby to arrive. Whenever I look through my photos or watch the video I just cry of happiness. Jenna is so sweet and patient it made things easy and as if we known each other for years.
