It has been a busy year for the Connell clan. Since we had the misfortune of having Covid-19 over Christmas last year, we decided to take a family trip to Disney World for spring break. We had a blast in the Florida sun, and it was nice to feel part of the world again. The day after the kids were out of school this June we left to be ‘digital nomads’ and traveled across the country to my grandparents farm in Indiana. It was so nice to see new places and spend time with family at a place that is dear to my heart. While we were there, we had the pleasure of letting some of the family know we are expecting a new family member on December 19th, 2021! Since this is baby number 3, and since Covid is still raging, we have decided not to have a baby shower. Instead, we’ve decided to offer people the chance to contribute to the pictorial preservation of the arrival of a baby into our family. Jenna Nord has documented our family through photography for the last 6 and a half years. She was there for the arrival of Ellowyn and has taken our family portraits since. We are so delighted that she has taken our new arrival on and look forward to working with her again in December. I cannot simple define the why of a birth photographer; myself.
I hold space for the birth mama and family, I photograph in the most challenging of light on the most intense physiological female journey. Through my lens I look for the supple transformation of birthing skin, the endearing love of a partner and sharing of primal birth perseverance and surrender.
